Simonton Windows® is proud to participate as a qualified vendor in the U.S. Department of Energy’s R-5 Volume Purchase Program. Homeowners can realize substantial energy savings by purchasing these highly energy-efficient windows and doors. Research indicates that R-5 windows can reduce the average heat loss through windows by as much as 40 percent.
What is an R-5 Window? R-5 windows are highly insulating windows with a whole-window R-value of 5 (or a U-factor of around 0.2) and are the top tier of energy-efficient windows for cold and mixed climates available today.
What is an R-value and U-factor? An R-value indicates an insulation's resistance to heat flow. So, the higher the R-value, the greater the insulating effectiveness. U-factor is the inverse of R-value. So, the lower the U-factor, the better the thermal performance of the insulation..
What Simonton products currently qualify for the R-5 volume purchase program?

How do I purchase Simonton R-5 Windows? In addition to the Web site, the DOE recently expanded ordering options to include an Open Bid Request Form to be submitted as part of the purchasing process. This new form assists buyers in obtaining pricing information from persons interested in purchasing our highly efficient R-5 windows.
To purchase R-5 windows through the new process, the optional Open Bid Request Form must be completed and emailed to the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) at windowsVP@pnl.gov.
NOTE: Be sure to request Simonton Windows as the "preferred vendor" on the Open Bid Request Form.
