  • Simonton Cyclists Gear Up for Fifth Annual Pelotonia

    July 19 2013

COLUMBUS, OHIO – Simonton Windows is preparing to once again assist in the fight against cancer by participating in the fifth annual Pelotonia bike ride in Columbus, Ohio on August 9-11, 2013. During the 2012 event, the Simonton team raised $17,405 for cancer research at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center.

“With the support of family, friends and business associates we’re hoping to increase the funds that are donated on our behalf to the Pelotonia event this year,” says Terry Craig, vice president of information technology at Simonton Windows. “Each rider must raise a minimum of $1,250 for the 25-mile ride. Some of our associates will bike for 100 miles which requires them to raise at least $1,800.

“We’re motivated to support this event because we know that 100 percent of all funds raised are provided directly to the researchers at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center to support their efforts to understand, prevent and cure cancer. It’s important to all of us that we make this commitment to ride in order to give back to our community.”

The dedicated Simonton team members will travel several hundred miles combined on different routes throughout the city to help raise funds during Pelotonia, a grassroots bike tour that started four years ago with 500 bike riders. In 2012 more than 6,000 riders rode from one of six route options and chose either one- or two-day rides in distances from 25 to 50 to 75 to 100 miles. To date, more than $44.7 million has been raised for the non-profit organization.
