  • Simonton Windows Hosts 11th Annual “Relay for Life” Auction

    COLUMBUS, OHIO – On Saturday, April 28, 2012, Simonton Windows will host the 11th annual window and door auction to benefit the American Cancer Society. During the past decade the yearly charity fundraiser has generated more than $330,000 for the Relay for Life® fundraising efforts in Ritchie County, West Virginia.

    Starting at 9:00am on April 28th homeowners, builders and remodelers can view the Simonton windows and patio doors at the Simonton manufacturing facility on Route 50 in Ellenboro. Hundreds of new windows and doors, along with 13 skids (40 sheets per skid in black and white colors) of foam board for trimming and finish work will be available at the “cash and carry” auction that begins at 10:00am that day.

    “This yearly event is a tremendous way for people to purchase top-quality, energy-efficient Simonton products at a fraction of their market price,” says Dave Meeks, co-organizer of the event and a dispatcher/scheduler at Simonton Windows. “These are brand new, high-quality products. We’ll have an assortment of new windows, patio doors and bay windows available at the auction along with the trim board supplied by SimEx.

    “We generated more than $30,000 for the American Cancer Society at our auction in 2011 and hope to do as well this year. Whether you need one replacement window for a home or a dozen, this is a great opportunity to purchase your windows and patio doors and trim products while supporting the American Cancer Society.”

    The Simonton and SimEx Relay for Life team members and volunteers will again offer refreshments for sale to further raise funds.

    “I encourage folks to bring their exact measurements for the windows and doors they need and arrive between 9:00am and 10:00am to view the entire selection of products available,” says Meeks. “We’ll again have auctioneers Edgar Duelley and Mike Nichols starting the auction promptly at 10:00am.

    “I expect some Simonton windows will be available starting as low as $10 each, with an average expected auction price of between $40 to $50 each. Patio doors are expected to sell for between $100 and $175 each. These are tremendous deals for top-quality products and the purchases benefit the American Cancer Society.”

    The rain-or-shine event will feature both Simonton new construction and replacement windows and doors. All items are sold “as is” with no warranty.

    Cash and checks (made payable to the American Cancer Society) are accepted on the day of the sale, and all purchased items must be removed the day of the sale. The purchases help support the ongoing fundraising efforts of the Ritchie and Pleasants County chapters of the American Cancer Society. A portion of the purchases may be tax deductible, and auction winners should consult their tax or legal advisor for details.*
